My Story

Well you have managed to find my homepage; I hope you find the information useful. My name is Jason Skepyan and I live in New York where I work as an investment adviser. After a number of years of working for the big firms on Wall Street I am now running my own company that offers advice to investors. I find that this allows me to provide better advice than I could have working under the pressure that comes at a large firm.

I guess the first thing that I should do is give you a little bit of background about me so that you know that I know what I am talking about when I give investment advice. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City and then attended Brigham Young University receiving a degree in economics. After graduation I was recruited to a job on Wall Street. The first job that I had was as a mutual fund salesman. However after a few years I was able to move up to the research department in which I was responsible for helping to make the decisions about which stocks would be purchased for the mutual fund.

After a couple of years working in research I took a job as a derivatives trader with another company. This was one of the most exciting and pressure packed jobs that I have ever had. I was responsible for trading millions of dollars of the company’s money every day on options and futures. While this was an exciting and lucrative job it was not one that many people do for a long time. Like most traders I quickly burned out and decided to move onto something else.

Instead of going to work for another large company I made the decision to go out on my own and set up a company as an investment adviser. In this role I provide investment advice to my clients, in most cases companies with free cash to invest but also to some individual investors. This is a job that allows me to use the skills that I have without the intense pressure of having to be an active trader. I have found that this is the best of both worlds.

The one thing that I take great pride in about my career as an investment adviser is that most of the people that I have offered advice to have made money, most of them have earned returns that exceed the average of the stock market. This is the bench mark that most investors shoot for, if you can’t do that you might as well be putting your money into a mutual fund. Obviously not everybody that I have worked with has made money, any adviser who claims that is lying. I would however put my track record up against any other investment adviser in New York.
